The Airport Authorities of Thailand (AOT) have announced the re-opening of Phuket International Airport at 17:00 hrs today, 17 September 2007.

Dear All

The Airport Authorities of Thailand (AOT) have announced the re-opening of Phuket International Airport at 17:00 hrs today, 17 September 2007. The airport was closed due to the crash-landing of the One-Two-Go flight OG 269 in the afternoon of Sunday 16 September 2007.

The situation is as follows:

- Throughout the day, domestic departures from Phuket International airport were re-routed overland by shuttle to Krabi International Airport, where passengers boarded aircrafts to Bangkok. Thai Airways provided additional aircrafts to ensure evacuation of delayed passengers.

- Flights to Phuket were also re-routed to Krabi International Airport, from where passengers were driven overland to Phuket.

- Several international flights, due to arrive before 17:00 hrs were cancelled, whereas flights arriving later today to Phuket are delayed and arrival times are currently unknown.

Passengers are advised to keep checking with their airlines for further delays in the coming days. We also advise all passengers to check-in early, as flights to Phuket may be overbooked in the coming days.
